Student Insights from our November Coaching Clinic
Mythili Madhavan, Co-Director at the Aston University Enactus team, offers her reflections on last week's Coaching Clinic, a key initiative designed to provide industry experts with flexible development opportunities while creating impact through coaching Enactus students. In her blog post, she offers an insightful overview of the session, highlighting the guidance, learning opportunities and professional connections that helped shape her team’s next steps.
The Coaching Clinic session was incredibly helpful and a great opportunity to meet coaches and professionals from different areas of the industry. One of the most valuable parts of the session was the guidance we received on how to accurately measure our problem in order to measure our solutions. This helped us understand how to create meaningful data points that would effectively demonstrate our progress and impact.
We also received insightful advice on the stages of product development and how to gradually elevate our project. The coaches helped us streamline our goals, making our next steps more organised, structured and achievable. In addition, we gained exposure to how different sectors operate within their companies, learned about effective marketing strategies and explored how to approach corporations to spark interest and build potential partnerships.
The Coaching Clinic inspired us to think more creatively, from discussing effective marketing strategies to measuring impact in our projects, we had diverse perspectives from the professionals on how to develop our project to the next stage. We gained insight into how the different sectors operate within each company and best practises to guide and motivate us to take the best action to boost our impact.
I learnt how to better evaluate our projects, highlight the achievements and analyse our setbacks as room for growth and how to best optimise the situation in order to learn and implement alternative solutions to tackle the challenges. Developed my analytical thinking and adaptability skills to mitigate unexpected issues and challenges efficiently using all the resources we have.
I’m really grateful to the Enactus team for organising this fantastic opportunity. The session significantly helped us develop confidence in pitching our project, think critically about solutions and identify hidden challenges that we hadn’t previously considered. We left feeling far more prepared to tackle upcoming obstacles, take action and map out our next steps. The coaches were incredibly friendly, supportive and willing to share their contact details for continued professional connection.
Like Mythili, other students also shared their reflections, highlighting the valuable guidance, fresh perspectives, and actionable strategies they gained from the Coaching Clinic:
“The coaches provided very valuable guidance for our project, and the conversations gave me exposure to real-world employer perspectives and how decisions are made in practice.“
“It was an excellent opportunity as me and my team got to learn from the wealth of experience from the coaches. They opened our eyes to opportunities we had missed or weren't even aware of. They also provided us with intelligent answers, roadmaps and strategies to reach our goals.”
The Coaching Clinic demonstrated how mentorship can transform student projects into impactful initiatives.
