NextGenLeaders Volunteer Programme Launched in BDO, Leeds Offices

On 4 November, the BDO Leeds office became the pilot launchpad for the NextGenLeaders Volunteer Programme, kicking off an exciting initiative for BDO to work with local young people to champion social mobility. The Enactus team, led by CEO Amy Brereton, shared the unique opportunity to get involved during the all-staff update, presenting how BDO professionals can utilise their expertise to support talented young people across the region. This session was more than a standard update - it marked the beginning of an exciting and pivotal new collaboration focusing on expanding BDO's support for young people in the region.

The BDO Leeds office is an ideal starting point for this collaboration, as it aligns perfectly with the current location of the NextGenLeaders Programme, which has successfully supported young people in the Leeds area since 2017. Covering the full staff team across two focused sessions, NextGenLeaders introduced the concept that the Leeds team will pioneer the volunteer support model and work to develop the blueprint for a national scale out. Working with volunteers in Leeds, the initiative’s ambition is to build a truly scalable model that empowers as many young people as possible to develop responsible leadership skills through high-impact community action. By volunteering, the Leeds team is directly setting the standards for BDO’s national contribution.

The potential for this initiative is huge! The presentation successfully showcased numerous opportunities for BDO colleagues to make a direct difference, from providing essential skills-based mentorship to hosting practical workshops. These activities offer invaluable professional insight, helping young people from all backgrounds expand their career horizons.

By choosing to collaborate with Enactus and the NextGenLeaders Programme, BDO is directly demonstrating its commitment to tackling barriers and creating the next generation of leaders. The success achieved by the Leeds team will be the key to unlocking broader social mobility support across the UK. We can’t wait to get started!
