Bloomberg Finance Pathways: A Closer Look at Careers in Finance
This week, students from universities across Ireland joined us at Bloomberg’s Dublin offices for the Bloomberg Finance Pathways 2026!
We were super happy to bring this opportunity to students, helping them broaden their perspectives and explore opportunities within finance. Through an introduction to financial markets, two expert panels and a networking session, students heard directly from industry professionals, asked questions and built connections.
During the panels, speakers shared their experiences and career journeys, giving students a closer look at the different roles within finance and practical advice on finding their own way into the industry. Conversations covered what employers look for in graduate candidates, the importance of resilience and adaptability, and how AI could shape future roles. For some our students, hearing directly from women working in finance was a particular highlight.
Feedback showed how much students took away from the day. All students reported a better understanding of what a career in finance could look like, and 97% felt more confident about pursuing a career in the sector following the session. All respondents also reported a positive impact on their personal development, and 100% said they were very likely to apply for a future opportunity with Bloomberg.
Students particularly valued hearing about the speakers’ career journeys and gaining practical advice on their next steps. Their takeaways included the importance of networking and a better understanding of the diversity of roles within finance.
Lara MacSweeney, from Dublin City University, said:
“I loved hearing from the external speakers, as they gave me an insight into what it’s like to be a woman working in finance and what a career in the sector could look like. My key takeaways were the importance of networking and the positive impact AI could have on future roles in finance.”
Sophie Hartigan, from the University of Limerick:
“I found the panel talks extremely engaging and relatable. Hearing real-life experiences from people on a similar career path was very helpful, and I learned more about what employers look for in graduate candidates and the diversity of roles within finance.”
A big thank you to Bloomberg for welcoming us to their Dublin offices and making this opportunity possible. Thank you also to all the speakers, moderators and organisers for sharing their time, experience and advice, and to every student who joined us with such curiosity and enthusiasm.
