Celebrating our Young Changemakers: NGL Celebration Event

This year we celebrated the energy, creativity and passion from our young Changemakers at the NextGen Leaders final celebration event. Brining together more than 200 students, teachers, partners and supports across our schools network, the event was a inspiring display of youth-lead innovation and the incredible impact young people are able to make in their communities when they are given the opportunities and agency to do so.

Project Showcase at NGL Celebration Event

Students from over 12 schools showcased their projects they’ve spent months developing, each, driven by a motivation to tackle issues within their local communities and create positive change. The room was buzzing with our project fair, which displayed over 10 projects- an impressive range of initiatives by our school students, demonstrating how much can happen when young people are given the confidence, support and space to lead.

Onto one of our main standout moments of the day: The NextGen Leaders Impact Competition. Our Top 4 schools took over the stage to present their ideas and impact to a dedicated board of judges and a packed audience. We are amazed by all our teams- it is not an easy task, and the confidence and purpose brought to the stage made the day ever so inspiring.

After all that competition and celebration these were the amazing award-winning projects announced on the day:

🥈 Impact Competition Runner-Up – Golden Connections, Trinity Academy Cathedral
💡 Early Stage Competition Winner – The Martlets, Penistone Grammar School
⭐Project Fair - Most Creative - Reflect, Trinity Academy St. Edward's
⚡Project Fair - Most Potential - Struggle Buddies, Garforth Academy

🏆 Finally, a massive congratulations to Project H by Sheffield Park Academy, who were crowned this year’s NextGenLeaders Impact Competition Champions. Through Project H, Students from Sheffield Park Academy focused on tackling food insecurity through anonymous food hampers, accessible recipe cards and partnerships to reduce food waste within their community.

We could not be more proud of our young Changemakers. Our NextGen Leaders final celebration event is a reminder of the power young people have to create positive impact wihin their communities. Through supporting wellbeing, or creating better opportunities for others, our students at NextGen Leaders reflect the compassion and leadership of the next generation.

We are incredibly grateful to our entire network- our judges and supporters who made this day even more impactful for our Changemakers. It was fantastic to see all the amazing work happening in our schools programme, providing students with the right space and opportunities to develop the right skills and unlock their potential as the next generation of responsible leaders!

An inspiring celebration of everything the programme stands for: giving young people the opportunity to develop skills, grow in confidence and realise the impact they are capable of making.
